I wonder how long it took Disney to design the new trash cans sitting outside at the new Art of Animation Resort in Walt Disney World.

Seriously, this is all you could come up with? Way to tie into the “theme,” if by theme, they mean “hotel dedicated to franchises that sell a lot of toys masking as a tribute to animation.”

The recent rehab of Walt Disney World’s Big Thunder...

The recent rehab of Walt Disney World’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad brought some changes to the queue, including the shift of color on the trash cans.

While it’s subtle, the cans used to be a glossy brown color; now they have a dull, flat brown finish.

Across from Disney’s Doorway to Dreams, you’ll find this trash can waiting for use!

Located at Woodfield Mall outside of Chicago, this Disney Vacation Club regional sales center is rumored to be closing in September, going the way of Chicago’s DisneyQuest and ESPN Zone.

Despite being newer than Disneyland, it’s often hard to find detailed photographs of certain areas from Walt Disney World’s first year, having opened in October 1971.

Thanks to FoxxFur’s latest article on Passport to Dreams Old & New, we now know what the trash cans looked like around Liberty Square, sourced from photos taken in November 1971.

Here you can see cream-colored cans with tan vertical stripes anchoring both sides of the bridge leading into the land. Very traditional look.

Disneyland Paris’ Main Street USA now features trash cans that have companion recycling cans side-by-side. We first saw these appear at Walt Disney Studios and then Disney Village. It’s nice to see them in the flagship park as well!

23 years ago today — on May 1, 1989 — the Disney-MGM Studios opened.

Boy, was that ever a badly-executed idea! Let me know when Disney figures out what they actually want to do with that hodgepodge of a park.

On the plus side, we did get some nice looking trash cans!

You’ll note that it’s the exact same type of can used in Disney theme parks.
